The bend Metallica, an American heavy metal legend, appeared in Belgrade for the first time within its European tour on June 15, 2004, thus cheering their numerous fans at the crammed Partizan Stadium. On that occasion, the latest St.Anger album was promoted.
The Band was complete, also including Lars Ulrich, the drum player, who was in hospital for a short time at the beginning of June. A great number of Belgrade’s citizens who live closer and farther from the Stadium were kept woken up by 800,000 watts.
Metallica arrived at Belgrade after the concert in Munich, and they are going to continue with it in Bremen, Zurich, Saragossa, Amsterdam, Paris, Dublin…
The fiercest heavy metal band ever set the Partizan Stadium on fire. Metallica thundered through Belgrade having organized an unforgettable hard sound concert to its numerous audiences for two hours and a half. Belgrade was in the sign of the most famous heavy metal quartet on that June 15. A number of this most prominent heavy metal band’s fans could be met at every corner all over the city. The colonies of its fans from the Serbian provinces, Macedonia, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina had already started coming to the Stadium at noon.
Total chaos was caused at about 9:30 pm. Metallica opened its concert with the song from the film “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, thus introducing “blackened” during which Serbian seismologists recorded the strongest musical earthquake ever. The greatest hits went one by one, as well as the old things that Metallica rarely performs alive. Everything ended with a long parting and by singing “Four Horsemen” and ”Seek And Destroy”.
“You look beautiful, you sound beautiful, we’ll do our best for you”, James Hetfield said after the first song.
