Pionir Hall

A famous Italian tenor Luciano Pavarotti had a concert to remember in a Belgrade’s Sports Hall Pionir in front of more than 4,000 people.

Simona Todaro, an Italian soprano, appeared as a guest singer, together with Pavarotti, both followed by the orchestra Kamerata Serbika and led by the conductor Leone Magiera.

The concerted lasted for two hours and a half, and the program included Italian canzone, as well as arias from the operas La bohème and Tosca.

As a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, Pavarotti let know by word of mouth that he had always been for peace and thus he sang Ave Maria together with Simona Todaro.

The audience got to their feet at the end of the concert and sent off the great artist who started his international career with the appearance in La Traviata in Belgrade exactly 44 years ago, with a ten-minute applause.

The last night’s concert in Belgrade was finished by a drinking song from the opera La Traviata, which he sang with his guest and the thrilled audience.

The famous tenor announced that he was going to retire when he was seventy, this year in September. The concert in Belgrade is the part of his goodbye tour.
