Finnish “neoclassical” metal band Apocalyptica played to a packed SKC.
The Finnish trio, graduates of the prestigious Sibelius Academy of Music, emerged in 1996 with the album “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos”, which fused the seemingly incompatible in a way never heard before - the fierce riffs of metal anthems and the refined sound of the classical cello.
Five more albums followed, blending Prokofiev with Pantera and Shostakovich with Slayer.
The band's biggest commercial success came with “Bittersweet”, featuring guest vocals by HIM frontman Ville Valo and Lauri Ylönen of The Rasmus.
Apocalyptica opened last year's Exit festival in Novi Sad with a fantastic set on the Voda Voda Main Stage, and less than a year later it will perform for the Belgrade audience on June 3 at Tašmajdan Stadium.
