Cesaria Evora, the legendary singer of World Music, introduced herself to the Novi Sad audience

Cesaria from Cape Verde managed to present the heritage of her exotic homeland to the world when she was already approaching her fifty years. For many years she performed as a bar singer and sometimes she only imagined the feeling of being able to present her music outside the borders of her small homeland.

Cesaria Evora recorded her first album La Diva Aux Pieds Nus in Paris in 1988. She was then 47 years old. What followed was an already enviable discography and numerous performances with which she amazed the world audience. On the American tour, world icons such as Madonna, David Byrne, Brandford Marsalis expressed their admiration.

The barefoot giant, as Cesaria is called because of her frequent barefoot appearances on stage, is an attempt to draw attention to the unenviable position of women and children in her homeland.
